COMPETITION-30
ActiveCompetition Concave Arcade Button (30mm)
Classic American-style 30mm concave push button from Happ Controls with genuine IL/iL Competition microswitch. The definitive Western arcade button — concave plunger design provides a different tactile experience than Japanese convex buttons.
Common Applications
The standard button in classic American arcade cabinets (Mortal Kombat, NBA Jam, etc.). The concave plunger cups the fingertip for a distinctive feel. Uses a Cherry D44X compatible IL microswitch with heavier actuation force, preferred for games requiring deliberate inputs.
Specifications
|
Actuation Force
The force needed to press the button. Lower = more sensitive. Sanwa ~65g (light), Seimitsu ~85g (medium), Happ ~130g (heavy).
|
100g

|
Color
Button/actuator color. Green = start/go, Red = stop/emergency, Yellow = caution, Blue = reset (per IEC 60204-1).
|
Various (Red, Blue, Green, Yellow, White, Black)
|
|
Contact Configuration
Normally Open — circuit is off until you press. Standard for start/go/enable functions.
|
NO (normally open, SPDT microswitch)

Diameter
|
30mm (28.5mm mounting)

Material
The bezel/body material. Metal bezels are more durable in harsh environments. Plastic is lighter and cheaper.

|
Mechanical Life
How many press cycles before mechanical failure. Higher is better — 10M cycles at 100 presses/day = 274 years.
|
10,000,000 cycles
|
|
Microswitch Type
The internal switch mechanism. Built-in = sealed unit. Cherry D44X = replaceable, clicky. Omron = quieter, longer life.

Travel Distance
How far the button moves when pressed. Shorter = faster response. Sanwa 0.85mm is extremely short for competitive gaming.

Installation Quick Reference
Mounting: Snap-in buttons push into a 30mm (28.5mm mounting) hole from the top of the panel. Screw-in buttons thread from below and secure with a nut. Use 2-3mm acrylic, wood, or metal panel.
Wiring: Connect the microswitch terminals to your encoder or PCB. Common ground shared across all buttons. Quick-disconnect (0.110") terminals are standard on Japanese buttons.

What People Are Saying
“Happ Competition buttons have that classic concave feel and loud click. Great for retro cabinets. But for competitive play, Japanese buttons (Sanwa/Seimitsu) are objectively faster due to the shorter travel distance.”
