Research Notes
1. Overview
The OBSF-30-P is the pink color variant of Sanwa Denshi's OBSF-30, the industry-standard 30mm snap-in arcade pushbutton introduced around 2003. It is mechanically identical to every other OBSF-30 color: same ABS plastic housing, same SW-68 non-clicking microswitch, same snap-in clips. Sanwa Denshi manufactures all OBSF-30 variants in Japan, and the series is OEM in Vewlix, Blast City, Astro City, and Versus City cabinets, as well as Qanba and Hori fightstick lines. The OBSF-30-P is part of a 20+ color palette (including solid pink, two-tone Black/Pink OBSF-30-K/P, and a separate Metallic Pink OBSJ-30-JP) that lets builders match aesthetic themes without any mechanical trade-off.
2. User Sentiment
The OBSF-30 family is widely regarded as the "gold standard" starting point in the Fighting Game Community. The Button Index community notes "0.85mm travel is insane — you barely touch them and they activate," and NeoGAF members explicitly prefer OBSF-30s over stock Hori buttons. One Reddit thread notes some production batches arrive with squeaking plungers or loose upstroke feel on the microswitch, though these are generally fixable. The main critique is that the extremely light actuation (~50-65g) can produce accidental inputs when hands rest on buttons — a deliberate design choice for competitive speed. No complaints specific to the pink color variant exist; color does not affect switch feel or durability.
3. Real-World Applications
The OBSF-30-P is the go-to button for aesthetically themed fightstick and custom arcade builds. It is especially popular for Hello Kitty-themed sticks, pastel/cute builds, and accent button configurations (e.g., a single pink button among neutral-colored buttons for Start/Select functions or decorative layout highlights). Beyond fightsticks, it installs in custom home arcade control panels, Arcade1Up cabinet mods, and any metal or plastic control panel with 30mm holes and 2–5mm panel thickness.

5. Ordering & Compatibility
Pricing ranges from ~$1.65–$3.25 USD (ArcadeSpareParts ships from HK at the low end; FocusAttack, Paradise Arcade, and ArcadeRenovations at $2.75–$3.25 in North America). UK pricing is ~£2.25, EU ~€1.96–€2.90, AUD ~$3.50–$6.05, JPY ~¥255. The Black/Pink two-tone variant (OBSF-30-K/P) is the same price and widely stocked alongside the solid pink. The button is directly compatible with all standard Japanese-style control panels, MadCatz/Qanba/Hori FightStick harnesses (2.8mm QD wiring), and any encoder using 0.100"/2.8mm spade connectors. Optional silencer foam washers (available from FocusAttack for ~$0.10/each) reduce bottom-out noise without altering actuation. Metallic Pink (OBSJ-30-JP) is a separate premium SKU at higher price.
6. Known Issues
Snap-in locking tabs can break if excessive force is applied during installation — a general OBSF-30 warning noted by multiple retailers; gentle seating is essential, especially in thicker panels near the 4mm limit. Some batches exhibit squeaky plungers (from plastic offcuts) or an inconsistent upstroke feel due to microswitch spring variation; both are addressed by cleaning or microswitch replacement. Counterfeit OBSF-30s exist on AliExpress and Amazon (scratchy feel, blurry logos, incompatible clone microswitches); buying from established arcade parts retailers avoids this.

Mounting: Snap-in buttons push into a 30mm hole from the top of the panel. Screw-in buttons thread from below and secure with a nut. Use 2-3mm acrylic, wood, or metal panel.
Wiring: Connect the microswitch terminals to your encoder or PCB. Common ground shared across all buttons. Quick-disconnect (0.110") terminals are standard on Japanese buttons.
