Eaton M22-DRP-R Red Maintained Mushroom Actuator (RMQ-Titan)

Référence : M22 - R
Eaton M22 Série Introduced circa 2000

Eaton M22 red guarded push button.

Applications courantes

Same guard ring concept for Eaton panels. Prevents accidental activation. IP67 front face.

Research Notes

1. Overview

The Eaton M22-DRP-R is a red mushroom-head actuator for the M22 / RMQ-Titan 22.5 mm system — maintained (latching), non-illuminated. The "DRP" code = D (pushbutton) + R (Rastend = latching/maintained) + P (Pilz = mushroom), i.e. a latching mushroom (push to latch, pull/turn to release) — the maintained counterpart to the momentary M22-DP-R (#446). As an M22 actuator it is a head/operator only and needs a separate M22 contact block (e.g. K01) to function; front sealing IP67. (Data-quality note: this was cataloged as a "Red Guarded/Shrouded" momentary pushbutton — it is actually a red maintained mushroom (latching). Corrected.)

2. User Sentiment

Standard robust RMQ-Titan hardware. A maintained mushroom is used where a press should latch on and stay until manually released — e.g. a maintained stop/hold, lockout, or on/off function (note: a maintained red mushroom is not automatically a certified emergency stop; Eaton's dedicated E-STOP mushrooms — M22-PV/PVT — are the safety-rated push-pull/twist versions). It's modular/head-only: order actuator + contact block + fixing adapter.

3. Real-World Applications

A large red latching mushroom for a maintained stop/hold or on/off — press to latch (open an NC circuit and keep it open), pull/turn to reset. Prominent, easy-to-hit target.

4. Technical Specifications

  • Type: M22/RMQ-Titan mushroom actuator (head-only), non-illuminated
  • Actuator: red mushroom, maintained (latching) — push-to-latch, pull/turn to release
  • Cutout: 22.5 mm
  • Contacts: none integral — add M22 contact block(s), e.g. K01 (1 NC)
  • Sealing: IP67 (front); IP69K typical on M22
  • Approvals: UL, CSA, CE

5. Ordering & Compatibility

Order the M22-DRP-R actuator plus an M22 fixing adapter and contact block(s) (the -K01 completes it with a 1 NC). Fits 22.5 mm cutouts, M22 system. Compare: M22-DP-R = momentary mushroom (#446); M22-PV… = latching E-STOP mushroom (safety-rated).

6. Known Issues / DQ

  • DQ: it's a maintained (latching) mushroom — not a "guarded/shrouded" momentary pushbutton. Corrected here (actuator type + function).
  • Practical care: it's a head/actuator only (add contacts + adapter); "maintained" ≠ certified E-STOP (use M22-PV/PVT where safety standards require a latching emergency stop); confirm the 22.5 mm cutout and contact configuration.

Panel cutout: 22.5mm. Insert from the front of the panel, secure with mounting nut from behind (tighten to 2-3 Nm).

Contact block: Snap or screw the contact block onto the rear of the button body. Ensure the contact block orientation matches the wiring diagram — NO terminals are usually marked.

Wiring: Use 0.5-2.5mm² stranded wire with ferrules. Tighten screw terminals to 0.8 Nm. Test the button function before energizing the circuit.

Dépannage

Button doesn't respond when pressed

Check the contact block first — it's the most common failure point. Test continuity across the NO or NC terminals with a multimeter. If no click is felt, the return spring in the head may be broken.

Works intermittently

Contact block contacts are pitted or burned. Replace the contact block — don't try to file the contacts. Check if the rated cycle count has been exceeded.

Button feels mushy or doesn't click

The spring return mechanism in the button head is worn. Replace the head. The contact block can usually be reused if it tests OK.
