Research Notes

1. Overview

The Sanwa Denshi OBSF-24-W is a 24mm snap-in pushbutton in white ("W" suffix), part of the flagship OBSF line manufactured by Sanwa Denshi (Japan). "OBSF" denotes the snap-in flat-plunger design with dual plastic side clips, and "24" indicates the 24mm mounting hole — the compact sibling of the 30mm OBSF-30 action button. It is an OEM-grade arcade component standard in commercial fight sticks from MadCatz, Qanba, and Hori, and found on Japanese arcade cabinet service and start panels. Each unit ships as a complete assembly: convex plunger, housing, and built-in Sanwa SW-68 microswitch.

2. User Sentiment

The OBSF-24 family consistently earns perfect community ratings. Retailers and users describe the feel as "smooth, sensitive, and quiet" with a short, light stroke. The white variant is commonly chosen for clean aesthetic builds, high-contrast panel art, and authentic white-on-black Japanese arcade aesthetics. No negative sentiment specific to the white colorway has been found in available sources; Paradise Arcade Shop confirms no distinguishing notes separate the white variant from other solid colors in terms of performance or build quality. The broader family is called "the gold standard for fight sticks" across the community.

3. Real-World Applications

The OBSF-24-W is used for start, select, credit, coin, or special-function positions on arcade panels and fight sticks — the 24mm diameter is the standard for non-action auxiliary buttons. In traditional Japanese arcade layouts, white buttons often serve as "1P Start" or "2P Start" indicators. The white colorway is also popular in custom fight stick builds aiming for a clean or "white glove" aesthetic, and in panel designs where backlit or artwork-visible buttons are desired. Arcade Express notes the OBSF-24 is optimized for fighting games including Street Fighter II and Mortal Kombat.

5. Ordering & Compatibility

The OBSF-24-W is priced at approximately $2.45–$2.75 USD retail (Paradise Arcade Shop: $2.75; Arcade Shock: $2.45) and €2.58 in Europe (Arcade Express). It is compatible with MadCatz FightSticks, Qanba FightSticks, Hori fight sticks, and any custom panel with a 24mm hole in 2–4mm metal or plastic. The SW-68 switch and 2.8mm faston terminals are shared across the full OBSF-24 and OBSF-30 families, so existing wiring harnesses transfer directly. The screw-in OBSN-24 is the alternative for panels exceeding ~4mm thickness. White is a standard color listed at all major arcade part retailers.

6. Known Issues

No issues specific to the white colorway have been identified. The family-wide trade-off applies: the 55g / 0.85mm actuation can cause occasional accidental presses during fast play. White plastic can show yellowing or surface marks over heavy use more visibly than black or dark-colored variants — this is a general consideration for white arcade parts, not documented as a defect by any source. Availability of the white variant is consistent across major retailers. Panels thicker than ~4mm require the OBSN-24 screw-in variant.
