Research Notes

1. Overview

The IDEC HW1B-M110K is a 22 mm flush pushbutton from IDEC's HW heavy-duty control-device series — black, non-illuminated, momentary, with a 1 NO contact (the model code carries the operation/contact: M = momentary, 110 ≈ 1 NO, K = black). The HW line is IDEC's rugged, internationally-rated (UL/CE) 22 mm range with a metal bezel, common on machine tools and industrial panels. Sealing is IP65 (IP66 on the series).

2. User Sentiment

IDEC HW is well regarded as a heavy-duty, high-quality 22 mm line — solid metal-bezel construction, finger-safe terminals, positive-action contacts, and reliable long service. Favored on machine tools and demanding panels. As a black flush momentary button it's a neutral general-function control; the main care point is reading the operation/contact and color from the exact model code.

3. Real-World Applications

General-purpose black (neutral/function) flush momentary button on machine tools and industrial control panels — start/function/general control through the 1 NO contact.

4. Technical Specifications

  • Type: IDEC HW flush pushbutton, 22 mm, momentary; heavy-duty (metal bezel)
  • Color: black (code K)
  • Contact/operation: 1 NO, momentary (per the "M110" code)
  • Cutout: 22 mm
  • Sealing: IP65 (series to IP66)
  • Approvals: UL, CE

5. Ordering & Compatibility

Fits standard 22 mm cutouts. The HW model code carries operator + operation + contact + color (e.g. M110 = momentary 1 NO; a "-B"/"K" suffix denotes black). IDEC HW offers matching illuminated, selector, and e-stop devices, plus contact/lamp blocks for service. Confirm the exact code for color and contact.

6. Known Issues

No notable reliability issues — IDEC HW is a respected heavy-duty line. Practical care: verify the operation/contact (1 NO momentary here) and color from the exact model number, confirm the 22 mm cutout, and use IDEC HW contact blocks for service parts.

Installation Quick Reference

Panel cutout: 22mm. Insert from the front of the panel, secure with mounting nut from behind (tighten to 2-3 Nm).

Contact block: Snap or screw the contact block onto the rear of the button body. Ensure the contact block orientation matches the wiring diagram — NO terminals are usually marked.

Wiring: Use 0.5-2.5mm² stranded wire with ferrules. Tighten screw terminals to 0.8 Nm. Test the button function before energizing the circuit.

Troubleshooting

Button doesn't respond when pressed

Check the contact block first — it's the most common failure point. Test continuity across the NO or NC terminals with a multimeter. If no click is felt, the return spring in the head may be broken.

Works intermittently

Contact block contacts are pitted or burned. Replace the contact block — don't try to file the contacts. Check if the rated cycle count has been exceeded.

Button feels mushy or doesn't click

The spring return mechanism in the button head is worn. Replace the head. The contact block can usually be reused if it tests OK.
