Wyze Video Doorbell Pro — premium features at budget price.
Applicazioni Comuni
Wyze disrupts the doorbell market like they did with cameras. 2K HDR video, head-to-toe view, on-device AI person detection — all for $50-80 (vs Ring $100-250). The catch: requires Wyze subscription for cloud features. Hardwired to existing doorbell transformer. No battery option.
Research Notes
1. Overview
The Wyze Video Doorbell Pro (WVDP1) is an affordable (~$80) smart video doorbell with a physical call button, notable for being battery-powered OR hardwired and shipping with a plug-in chime. It has a tall square 1440×1440 (2K, 1:1) HD view (head-to-toe + package view), radar-based motion detection for more accurate alerts, two-way audio, and night vision — all managed in the Wyze app. It's the value entry in the smart-doorbell space, undercutting Ring/Nest while adding radar and a wire-free option.
2. User Sentiment
Praised as a lot of doorbell for the money — radar motion, 2K square video, included chime, and a genuinely quick install. Common criticisms: 2.4 GHz-only Wi-Fi, reliance on the Wyze cloud/app (and Wyze's mixed track record on security/outages), battery life that varies with traffic, and that some advanced features/AI events push toward Wyze's Cam Plus subscription. microSD/local options are more limited than Wyze's cameras.
3. Real-World Applications
Budget residential front-door monitoring with radar-accurate motion alerts, package/person notifications, and two-way talk; battery operation for homes without doorbell wiring, or hardwire for continuous power. Integrates with Alexa/Google for announcements.
4. Technical Specifications
- Type: Smart video doorbell with physical button (battery or wired)
- Video: 1440×1440 (2K) HD, 1:1 square field of view; night vision
- Motion: radar-based detection
- Power: rechargeable battery (2×3250 mAh, 7.4 V) OR hardwire (16–24 VAC); plug-in chime included
- Connectivity: Wi-Fi 2.4 GHz
- Sealing: IP65; Black/White
- Ecosystem: Wyze app; Alexa, Google Assistant
5. Ordering & Compatibility
Sold by Wyze and retailers; chime included in the box. Works with Alexa/Google for voice announcements. Optional hardwiring uses an existing 16–24 VAC transformer. Advanced AI event features may require a Wyze Cam Plus subscription.
6. Hackability & Known Issues
- Hackability: limited. Wyze devices are cloud-app-centric; the community has historically unlocked older Wyze cameras (RTSP firmware, local storage), but the doorbells are more locked, and there's no supported local-only mode. Not a DIY-flashable button.
- Known issues: 2.4 GHz-only Wi-Fi, cloud/app dependence (and Wyze's past outages/security incidents), battery-life variability, and some features gated behind Cam Plus.

Guida Rapida all'Installazione
Panel cutout: 22mm. Insert from the front of the panel, secure with mounting nut from behind (tighten to 2-3 Nm).
Contact block: Snap or screw the contact block onto the rear of the button body. Ensure the contact block orientation matches the wiring diagram — NO terminals are usually marked.
Wiring: Use 0.5-2.5mm² stranded wire with ferrules. Tighten screw terminals to 0.8 Nm. Test the button function before energizing the circuit.

Risoluzione dei Problemi
Button doesn't respond when pressed
Check the contact block first — it's the most common failure point. Test continuity across the NO or NC terminals with a multimeter. If no click is felt, the return spring in the head may be broken.
Works intermittently
Contact block contacts are pitted or burned. Replace the contact block — don't try to file the contacts. Check if the rated cycle count has been exceeded.
Button feels mushy or doesn't click
The spring return mechanism in the button head is worn. Replace the head. The contact block can usually be reused if it tests OK.
