SDB-202-24

1. Overview

The SDB-202-24 is a 24mm screw-in arcade pushbutton from Samducksa (formerly Crown), a Korean arcade hardware manufacturer. It is the 24mm sibling to the SDB-202-30 (product 124). The SDB-202 line upgraded from the older SDB-201's Futaba MA switch (3mm engage, 4mm travel) to a Cherry MX Speed Silver (1.2mm actuation, 3.4mm travel) for faster, linear response. Three 24mm sub-variants exist: SDB-202-24 (solid), SDB-202C-24 (translucent), and SDB-202M-24 (metallic). A SDB-202C-Silent (silicone inner, reduced noise) and successor SDB-203 series have since been released. The 24mm size fits standard start/auxiliary button holes and is popular in Hitbox all-button controllers.

2. User Sentiment

FGC community reception is strongly positive. Arcadexpress shows 4.8/5 stars (13 verified reviews, 97% recommendation rate); users say "Better than Sanwa" and "Best cherry switch buttons imo." Reddit r/fightsticks users describe a "loud satisfying slap, kinda like Sanwa buttons" and rate it "simply the best I've tried" for custom switch builds. The button is frequently used in Hitbox mods and mixed custom builds (e.g., Hori Alpha + Crown 202C). Negative notes: the 24mm can measure ~24.12mm (slightly oversize), causing tight fits in some panels; connector fatigue (copper spade connectors wiggling loose) causes intermittent failures in some units; one batch had 2/10 defective buttons. Users actively swap the stock Cherry Silver for Kailh Speed Navy, citing "massive improvement in feel." Availability concerns: buttons are often out of stock at western retailers.

3. Real-World Applications

Used primarily in FGC hardware: custom fightsticks, Hitbox all-button controllers, Etokki Omni Korean-style sticks, arcade cabinet control panels, and MAME builds. Marketed as tournament-grade by Paradise Arcade Shop, Focus Attack, and Arcade Renovations (US). Popular with Japanese modders upgrading from HORI or Sanwa buttons; sold through attasa/Rakuten and Korean platforms (ISTMall, Danawa). European retailers across France, Spain, Italy, Germany, and the UK stock the full color range. Confirmed compatible with autofire PCBs alongside the Sanwa OBSF-30.

6. Known Issues

Slight oversize (~24.12mm measured vs 24mm nominal) causes tight fit in some panels. Connector fatigue: copper spade connectors can wiggle loose over extended use, causing intermittent button failures. A "cautionary warning" community thread flagged quality concerns on the SDB-202M metallic 24mm variant specifically. MX switch compatibility is limited to Cherry and Kailh non-box standard profile; box-style or tall-profile switches may not seat properly.
